Logan's 1st Swim

Thankfully Mel's parents moved to Arizona and bought a house with a pool for our use and enjoyment :)  Logan took his 1st dip at just 3 weeks old.

He did not care for it at first, perhaps because the water was a chilly 85 degrees.  Luckily the pool warmed up quickly in the Arizona sun.  We spent many hours in the pool until our fingers and toes were pruney.  We braved the "cooler" water temps before Logan was born and kept on swimming through October.  It was a great way to wear out Logan and especially Dr. Pepper.

Lounging in his new baby pool-float.
Exhausted after a long summer (and fall) of swimming.

Road Trip to Pagosa Springs

There are going to be a lot of "firsts" for Logan over the next few years and we started off with a roadtrip full of them.  We drove up to Joe's cousin's house in Pagosa Springs, Colorado for a week around July 4th.  Logan's 1st roadtrip, 1st hail/thunderstorm, 1st time being changed on Mel's lap in the front seat (during said hailstorm), 1st dip in a cold CO river, 1st hike, 1st time seeing and standing in snow, 1st time at 13,000ft, 1st time nursing at 13,000ft (just to name a few).  The weather was a little bit colder than the hot AZ summers we were getting used to so we had to scrounge up every piece of long-sleeve and long-pant clothing we had for Logan.  You will see he had some interesting outfits :)  Overall, we had a great time.  Logan is a happy boy whenever he is outside and we got to spend lots of time outdoors.

Note to self...a normally 9 hr car trip takes about 5 hours longer with a nursing, pooping infant
Changing Logan on my lap during a hailstorm...thankfully this was not one of the blowout diapers we did have on the trip up.
Enjoying outside dining with Uncle Tony and the Bucci's
Hanging out with mommy in the sling.

1st hike - Hiked to a pretty cool waterfall, hanging out in the ergo (what a life)

Nursing at 13,000ft

1st dip in the snow

Rockin his new track suit (which he wore almost every day due to his inexperienced AZ parents not having enough warm weather clothes for him :) )

Training him early...

1st dip in the cold river

Obligatory (and unnecessary) stop at 4 corners on the way home...been there, done that, don't need to bother again

Welcome to the family Logan Joseph!

After being quite stubborn and after 30 long hours of labor, Logan Joseph finally decided to grace us with his presence on Wednesday May 6th 2009 at 3:07am. He was no small boy, weighing in at a whopping 9lbs 9oz, 21inches long and a 15.4 inch head circumference. We certainly had to do our fair share of work (yes Joe was a huge help) to meet the little guy, but it was worth every hour of labor and every ounce of energy.
After staying 2 full days at the hospital (quite a godsend), our new little family headed home on Friday May 8th. Our first "baby", Dr. Pepper, was at Mel's parents while we were at the hospital. We decided to wait a couple of days before the ball of energy could come home so we could have some quiet and calm time to ourselves. We also wanted to establish that Logan was now a leader of "the pack" and that Dr. Pepper would have respect that. When he finally came home, he was super excited to see us (he had been away for 6 days) and he was exceptionally curious of Logan. There was much sniffing and licking...from Dr. Pepper that is.
